IntroductionTriviaCast & GuestsCaptions

The show Have I Got School For You is loosely based upon the (at least once) popular news quiz, Have I Got News For You, as masterfully hosted by Angus Deayton with his two sidekicks, Ian Hislop and Paul Merton. It differs from the BBC version in three main ways, however: It is not broadcast on television, it is produced for charity, and it isn’t any good.

HIGSFY, as it’s known by people fond of shorthand or with an inbuilt aversion to typing things out in full, was conceived once when we were a bit bored as something to take the piss out of our teaching staff. It soon developed into a charity fundraising event to disguise its true intent, fitting neatly into the other shabby acts which comprised AGS ‘Busking Week’. It wasn’t really ‘busking’, but it was at least ‘weak’, thus filling half the required criteria. Since the show was charitable, it would have seemed unkind to cancel it. Sadly, all this policy of ‘ignore it and hope it dies’ led to was a second edition. The only people happy with the show are those at the Sonja Uster School in Mozambique. This is because they receive the money donated by the audience and, more importantly, live several thousand miles away from away from the show itself.

This site has been created in much the same vein as a fan site for Have I Got News For You might have been; by a couple of people with far too much time on their hands and little of real worth to do with it, not because HIGSFY is really worth this treatment - it hasn’t made household names of its regulars, for example - but because HIGSFY is about as exciting as their boring lives get.
